DaveO was kind enough to walk me through degreeing my cams last night. I currently only have an adjustable on the intake, so we started there, after some tweaking, intake is set to 104.5-105. Went over to the exhaust, checked it 2 or 3 times and keep getting 103.5.

I am running a stock sprocket on the exhaust and set it up per the service manual, ever seen a number this low after adding a spacer? I never degreed them before so not sure where it was at. But 103 seems pretty low, and I...

Re-timing Cams

Cam timing is one of the most misunderstood mechanical subjects and the easiest thing to screw up. To further complicate the issue I’ve seen a lot of suggestions posted by people who haven’t a clue much like the blind leading the blind. Turbocharging often requires lowering the compression, which on the Hayabusa is achieved by adding cylinder spacers, which in turn requires cam retiming. This post is intended to take out some of the mystery and provide a basic understanding of the choices....
