Hi All,

Not sure where to post this one so go easy....

I am building/having built a Rotrex Blackbird powered car, and have recently purchased a Trickshifter (http://www.trickshifter.com/) to deal with the gearchange.

This is a manifold vacuum system to operate the shifter, has anyone here got a similar setup on a forced induction bike ? I am happy if roll off the throttle I
will get the...

I thought the Map worked like a trim pot with power through two pins with a vaired out put on the third pin, ?

Ps, I've checked this site and many others, carn't find any info. thanks

Gary,

Got my stage 2 today. Well most of it. While I was there I discussed boost control and air pressure. (So far I have put a DOT bottle into the system for volume and have run a line to the double solenoid.) The guy told me to regulate my 160psi to 40psi at the solenoid. He told me to buy a small regulator to do this task. He also said to build / fabricate a resevoir to hold some air to help regulate the boost controller signal. Now all he said made sense but I am unable to find a...

I am wanting It to work off what gear the bike is in. I have seen posts on here of guys doing it. How do you interface that ? (what tells the solonoids to open and when?) I know the bikes ecu is keeping track of what gear it is in. How do I make it open the solonoids?, Or are you using a seperate computer for this? If so...

We have routinely run into high initial boost spiking with my bike on the dyno that doesn't occur on the road and the reason appears to be that the faster acceleration on the dyno is initially overwhelming the wastegate. I'm curious as to what others have encountered in this regard.
Who is controlling their wastegate actuator with a non-boost air pressure source? Without restricting flow the wategate may still go wide open even when the bleed is open due to the high volume of air. In the past I have just installed a restrictor in the pressure line for this purpose but recently changed to a flow control valve shown in the center of this picture.

<img...

There are three basic potential problems with internal waste gates.

1) The first is regarding the minimum boost level. This is not a problem in an automotive application but on a bike in lower gears you may want the lowest possible boost or even none at all if it were possible. The difficulty in attaining low boost is the relatively small bypass hole in the turbine housing since they were designed for automotive use. Even with the gate wide open the boost level will often be higher...

The exhaust pressure is very high (not being used to spin the turbine) so the pressure over comes the waste gate spring and leaks.
